In order to realise this potential, the German and European chip design ecosystem is to be expanded. To this end, the Microelectronics Design Initiative was launched, which is based on the following four key areas: a strong network as a central exchange platform, training and further education of talented and specialised staff, the implementation of collaborative research projects to strengthen design capabilities and the expansion and strengthening of research structures.
